Major changes in terms of interior space and length will make the X5 even more of a suburban monster.

BMW plans on transforming its flagship SUV into a more competitive sport ute with the addition of a third row of seats. The six- and eight-cylinder engines will likely be carried over from the current edition of the car, with the addition of a diesel option a distinct possibility. BMW will continue to produce the X5 at its lone U.S. operation in Spartanburg, S.C., alongside the Z4 roadster. Expect to see the 2007 X5 in dealerships starting in early 2007.
