The Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster made its on-screen debut this week in "Batman Begins," directed by Christopher Nolan and produced by the Warner Bros Entertainment Inc. In the film, billionaire Bruce Wayne (Batman), played by the actor Christian Bale, can be seen driving the Lamborghini supercar during his private life, when he does not use his Batmobile.



Chrysler Defines New PT Cruiser (6/17/2005)

The PT Cruiser retro wagon gets a mild restyling and more power for the 2006 model year, Chrysler announced yesterday at a Michigan press event. The new front end features the Chrysler winged badge and new fog lamps, while the tail gets a liftgate spoiler. The turbo engine gets a 10-hp boost, from 220 hp to 230 hp. And inside, the PT Cruiser receives a new interior with bigger gauges, an analog clock, a repositioned radio, a bigger glove box, and a larger center console. A Boston Acoustics audio system has been added to the options list. Better sealing has led to less interior noise, too. As for the Convertible model, Chrysler says it gets the same styling updates (save the spoiler on the rear end) and power upgrades. The new Cruisers go on sale in the fall.

Problems stop production on BMW M5?(6/17/2005)

From the M5 board:
"New problems with production of M5 and M5. A large amount of oil pumps have to be reworked when a production error have been discovered. This will lead to a delay. The factory expects that the delay will not be more than a month."

To BMW credit they are open to the customers affected by this delay.


Super Enzo Lives! Ferrari FXX to offer mega-performance—at a mega-price(6/15/2005)

Despite earlier denials by Ferrari officials, the Super Enzo (AW, May 16) spotted turning laps at Ferrari’s Fiorano test track is more than a development mule and will be offered to customers. Very privileged customers, that is. Ferrari has raised the stakes in the billionaire drivers club by planning to build only 20 or so FXX special editions (the Enzo name is gone) that will go to Maranello’s “most dedicated and passionate clients,” selected by an in-house committee. That means long-time buyers who lost track of their net worth years ago and who have at least a sliver of competitive driving experience and talent.

Codenamed W221, the car is revealed here ahead of a planned world debut at the Frankfurt motor show in September. Together with a bold exterior design, a heavily revamped interior and a range of powerful new gasoline engines, the sedan will trumpet several new safety features officials claim will make the S-Class the world’s most advanced passenger car.



Likely Challenger: Dodge prepping a rear-drive coupe to take on Ford^s Mustang(6/14/2005)

Watch out, Ford Mustang. Dodge is preparing a challenger. In fact, it^s likely to be called Challenger. Chrysler plans to resurrect a respected name from the pony car era for a rear-wheel-drive Mustang fighter, industry sources say. The car is expected in 2009 on the LX platform, the basis of the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Magnum and Charger. "It is a two-door, essentially a competitor for the Mustang," says Catherine Madden, a production analyst for industry research group Global Insight. "They are really excited about it."

Z06 Hits 60 in 3.7 Seconds, Chevy Says(6/14/2005)

Chevrolet says the upcoming 2006 Z06 edition will be the fastest Corvette ever. The new 505-hp Z06 will run from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds, Chevrolet promises. The Z06 gets its extra power from a 7.0-liter V-8 engine and is helped to its faster speeds by lightweight construction: the 3132-lb Z06 has a body built with aluminum, titanium, and magnesium. The Z06 goes on sale in the fall priced from $65,800, including destination charges.
