Frankfurt set for a Fenomenon(8/28/2005)

On the occasion of next month^s Frankfurt IAA, Fenomenon Holistic Design will unveil an exciting new concept design - the Stratos Roadster. The design team has chopped the lid off the Stratos concept car. It was during the 75th Geneva Salon - back in March - that the Fenomenon automotive design studio launched what turned out to be one of the most exciting concept cars presented at the Swiss motor show - a modern, feasible, reinterpretation of the Stratos - Lancia^s sportscar icon from the 1970s. Fenomenon Holistic Design is led by Viennese-born Christian Hrabalek, who happens to be the world^s foremost collector, and authority on, the Lancia Stratos, and he made no compromises in his quest to create a ^new^ version, but which at the same time would be one that captured the very essence of the much-lauded original.

BMW Will Unveil Z4 Coupe and Hybrid X3 at Frankfurt Show(8/23/2005)

BMW will unveil a coupe version of its Z4 Roadster at next month^s Frankfurt auto show. The car will be officially a concept, but BMW will hurry it into production as a rival to the new Porsche Cayman S, a coupe version of the Boxster. The Z4 Coupe will be powered by BMW^s 255-horsepower, 3.0-liter, inline six-cylinder gasoline engine. There also will be an M version with a 3.2-liter inline six from the M3, upgraded to 360 hp.



New Porsche 911 Turbo likely for Geneva Show(8/23/2005)

Porsche is likely to unveil its new-generation 911 Turbo sports car at next year^s Geneva Motor Show. The Turbo, which is one of the most expensive models in the 911 range, should go on sale in North America in the middle of next year as a 2007 model. Rumors have recently suggested the Turbo would first go on sale in Europe next spring. The new 911 Turbo will reportedly use a new four-wheel-drive system, likely adapted from the new-generation 911 Carrera 4 and 4S.

Pricing Announced for Dodge Charger SRT8(8/23/2005)

The 2006 Dodge Charger SRT8 will start at $35,995, which includes a destination charge of $675. The Charger SRT8 will be powered by a 6.1-liter Hemi V8, which produces 425 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque, helping the car to achieve a 0-to-60-mph time in the low-5-second range.

Bentley Confirms Azure Name for New Model(8/23/2005)

Bentley has given the Azure name its official endorsement after seeking public support for the model since its introduction at the 2005 Los Angeles Auto Show. This four-seat luxury convertible will go on sale in spring 2006, with a similar appearance to that of the original Azure model, which was in production from 1995 to 2003.

Back in Motion With Camaro SuperCoupe(8/21/2005)

The Baldwin-Motion Camaro SuperCoupe, a modern version of the performance-car icons of the ^60s and ^70s, will be launched at November^s Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show. The launch edition of the car will be powered by a 600-horsepower, 540-cubic-inch (8.8-liter) fuel-injected, all-aluminum Merlin/Motion big-block V8. Baldwin-Motion was the brainchild of the New York Chevy dealer who partnered with Motion Performance to take stock Camaros, Chevelles, Corvettes and Novas and build them into big-block street dominators during the peak of Detroit^s pony car era.


2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T Models Hit the Streets(8/21/2005)

The first limited-edition 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T models hit the streets here Friday, as more than 30 local Dodge dealers took delivery of the cars in time for the Woodward Dream Cruise. Thirty-three Charger Daytona R/T models in GoManGo! exterior paint cruised from the Walter P. Chrysler Museum down Woodward Avenue with a Dodge police escort for a preview of Chrysler^s Dream Cruise display. GoManGo! was a paint name initially used for the 1970 Dodge Charger. It returns in an updated metallic orange shade on the new Charger Daytona R/T.



2006 Jeep Commander Starts at $27,985(8/21/2005)

The new seven-passenger Commander, the biggest SUV in the Jeep lineup, will be priced from $27,985 for the base model to $38,900 for the top-of-the-line Limited model, the company said Friday. Prices include a $695 destination charge. Base Commander 4x4 models start at $29,985, including destination. Expect a fully loaded Jeep Commander Limited 4x4 with a Hemi V8 engine to top out at about $43,000. The Detroit-built Commander goes on sale in September.
