In the fall of 2006 Audi will release the second generation TT sports car. Initially it will come to the market as a coupe, while a convertible should follow one year later.

The new model is largely based on components from the VW Golf and Passat. It will definitely be larger than the current TT but will use more light weight body parts to keep weight increases to a minimum. Once again it will be powered by transversely mounted four and six-cylinder engines. The TT will again likely be offered with a six-speed manual and a six-speed DSG transmission; front wheel drive will be offered initially, with all-wheel-drive as an option later on.
