SURVEY: Kia, Hummer and Suzuki Have the Most Useful Consumer Web Sites
Hummer, Kia and Suzuki have the most useful automobile manufacturer Web sites for consumers, according to J.D. Power and Associates 2005 Manufacturer Web Site Evaluation Study released Tuesday. Lincoln, Isuzu and Scion have the least useful sites, the study found.
The study, which is conducted twice a year, measures how useful manufacturer Web sites are to consumers during the new-vehicle shopping process. Sites are evaluated by more than 12,200 shoppers in four key areas: speed, navigation, appearance and information/content.
Kia^s Web site ranked first overall among its competitors in terms of speed, navigation, appearance and content, J.D. Power reported, followed by Hummer and Suzuki.
Power said a key finding in the 2005 study is site speed is a more important factor to online shoppers than previously thought.
"Even though a site may have beautiful graphics and very useful shopping tools, it can be frustrating to the shopper if elements of the site take too long to load," said Dennis Galbraith, senior director of research at J.D. Power and Associates.
