15 Great Used Cars Under $15,000

Not everybody can afford to dish out 20,000 dollars to buy a halfway decent new car. These days, money is tight, but if you still do not want to give up performance, the only alternative is to buy a decent used car. In this case, depreciation is your friend, and the used car seller^s loss is your gain.

The late 80s and the early 90s saw the production of some superb cars which are legends in their own right. At the time they were on dealers^ showroom floors, all you could do was stare through the window from outside, but now they have become as cheap as a brand new economy subcompact. We take a look at a cross-section of cars that were built from the mid-80s right up to the turn of the century, which now cost less than $15,000. These cars are not the best used cars in the market, but they sure are good value for money, and you could do much worse than these. Notice that eight of the cars are Japanese, four are European and the remaining are American. This is simply because Japanese cars were the most reliable at the time. The Europeans are right up there with the Oriental folks in reliability, but most of them were - and still are - comparatively expensive. The Americans were not the best in building dependable cars before the mid-90s (although since then they have made great strides in quality). Of course there are always exceptions, and we look at three models that are memorable for their certain traits - namely a lot of bang for very little buck.

You will also notice that the fifteen selected cars are performance-oriented, but not limited to sports cars only. There are a couple of luxury sedans among the coupes and roadsters too, so there^s something for everybody.
